Fujian Kerui Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd.(KR) enterprise
is a hi-tech pharmaceutical enterprise and a sino-American joint
venture by the
institute of Microbiology,State Pharmaceutical Administration
of China and Fujian Province (FIM) and an American investor.
Relying on the high scientific and technological achievements
and the technical personnel of the institute, KR develops, manufactures
and markets the drugs produced by microorganisms.
The president of KR, Yuanrong Cheng, a distinguished professor
of microbiology and biotechnology. He studied and worked at Padova
University and Verona University in Italy as well as at MIT in
the United States. He is also an editorial member of THE JOURNAL
OF ANTIBIOTICS.
The business scope of KR is manufacturing and marketing immunomodulators,
new antibiotics, traditional Chinese medicines and chemical reagents.
The main product, Cyclosporin A, approved by FDA in 1997 has been
exported to foreign countries. Cyclosporin A oral solution, CYSPIN,
is widely used in the prevention of graft rejection in organ and
bone marrow transplantations and the treatment of autoimmune diseases.
Being an effective immunosuppressive agent with a price advantage,
CYSPIN is well accepted by patients and welcome by physicians.
Besides manufacturing a series of Cyclosporin products, KR is
making every effort to develop another new and potent immunosuppresant,
Rapamycin (10-fold more potent than Cyclosporin A and 4-fold more
potent than FK506) to meet the needs of clinics.
FIM, the technological-supporting institution of KR, is a professional
institute mainly engaged in the research and development of new
drugs from microbial origin. It has successfully developed new
antibiotics such as Gentamicin and Sisomicin by Micromonospora;
potent immunosuppresant, Cyclosporin A by fungi;immunoenhancer,
N-CWS by Norcardia and β-lactamase inhibitor ,Clavulanic acid
by Streptomyces. These have evolved some distinguishing
features in searching for new drugs from microorganisms especially
from Micromonospora.
